Today it seems as if we have lost all control. We can’t go to work. We must stay home. We need to isolate. We need to distance. Do I or don’t I wear a mask (ppe)? Which line is which, at the grocery store?
This virus is spreading from country to country, from city to city, from person to person. What happens if a family member gets it? What happens if my parents get it? What happens if I get it?
There are so many things that are falling apart, everthing seems upside down, there is all kinds of confusion around us, and as we’re reaching out for something sturdy, something solid, it seems like there is nothing to stand on.
And yet I want to tell you today, we have a Provider, we have a Protector
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
Let me tell you whatever we feed, grows. I see proof of that every day. I only have to look at myself. But I also have a Robin’s nest in the window of my office and I see the proof again of what we feed – grows. Those baby Robin’s are getting bigger each day.
It is no different with our fear. When we feed our fears – our fears get bigger and bigger and at times they can simply overwhelm us, almost cripple us.
I want to remind you that we can turn intrusive, disruptive thoughts of fear into conversations with the Father.
Your anxieties and your worries can be a real gift to you – when they push you to the Father.
